MOVEMENT SIX

STILLNESS

Step back and release the need to control the outcome. Distance allows insight to surface and the work to evolve on its own terms. Not all progress is visible while you’re working on it. Sometimes the most useful thing you can do is stop engaging with it and let your mind recalibrate so that a new perspective can emerge.

CREATE SPACE SO YOU CAN SEE CLEARLY

Step away from something before you think it’s finished. Go for a walk. Sleep on it. Shift your attention elsewhere. Resist the urge to solve the next problem immediately. When you return, notice what has changed.

How to work with today

You cultivate perspective. Distance allows ideas to settle, assumptions to loosen, and new possibilities to emerge. Sometimes the next step becomes visible only after you’ve stopped trying to force it.

What this practice cultivates

What became clearer once I stopped trying to make it happen, or force things to be a certain way?
