The Practice

We become what we repeatedly practice. Every time we create, we are doing more than making something. We are shaping the way we pay attention, respond to uncertainty, make decisions, and engage with the world. The seven movements are not steps to follow or a formula for creativity. They are recurring patterns that appear whenever we learn, create, adapt, or bring something new into the world. You'll move through them differently each time. Sometimes you'll spend weeks exploring possibilities. Sometimes you'll need to pause before taking the next step. Sometimes you'll return to an earlier movement with fresh perspective. The practice isn't about getting it right. It's about recognizing where you are, what the moment is asking of you, and responding with greater intention. Over time, these movements become less like a framework to follow and more like a way of relating to your work—and to yourself.

Wherever you are, begin there.

ROOTING

01

Notice is the practice of waking up to what is already there. Ideas and inspiration emerge through a recurring thought, a question that won't leave us alone, a pattern that keeps appearing. Notice is about recognizing the signals that reveal what wants to be explored.

Ground

Most days pass in a state of distraction and reactivity. Ground interrupts that pattern. We interrupt the noise to notice what's actually present. Ground is the practice of creating the conditions from which everything else can emerge.

INVITATION

02

You move before knowing where you are going, trusting the thread more than the destination. By experimenting and following your curiosity, you create the conditions for new possibility to emerge.

GATHERING

04

At some point, all the possibilities collapse into something specific. Form is that moment where you choose one path forward and set the others aside. Constraints stop feeling like a limitation and begins to create clarity. Form is where we gather energy around what matters most.

FORGING

05

Make

This is where inspiration meets reality, and bridge the internal vision and the external world. Through conscious engagement, an abstract idea becomes something tangible. This is where we learn to stay open, experiment, and evolve.

STILLNESS

06

Pause

Step back and release the need to control how things unfold. Pause is the practice of creating distance. By stepping back, releasing control, and allowing space between yourself and the work, so new perspectives can emerge. Sometimes the next step appears when you stop searching for it.

Share

Creative work doesn’t exist in isolation. What began as an idea, observation, or experiment enters a larger conversation and becomes a collective experience. Every act of sharing creates the conditions for a new cycle to begin.
