Field Note

Hi,

This week's post is what I call, “field notes”. They're explorations of ideas and insights, that feel alive and honest, gathered from my own practice. Ideas at the core of this project, developed through years of experimenting while building this project. I’m sharing them here and hope they spark something for you, too.

Field Note 1: On Practice

What is practice for? It's more than how we improve a skill or get better at something. Every practice also shapes our attention, our judgment, our ability to trust ourselves, and our willingness to keep showing up. The things we repeatedly do, and consistently return to, shape who we become.

Your Turn: A Question to Consider

What’s something you’re practicing? how has it shaped you? Think of your daily routines. How do you begin your day? Do you reach for your phone to avoid silence? What do you make time for? What do you come back to, day after day? Everything we rehearse is a kind of practice.
